Neil Patey is a Devon based artist, currently working from his studio in Dartmouth, South Devon. He has been painting full time since 1995, and works predominantly in acrylic on board.

Studying at Dartmouth, Totnes, Torquay and then taking a graphic design course at Loughborough University, Neil trained for many years to become a graphic designer, specialising in typography. He finished at Loughborough in 1992. Following his time in The Midlands, Neil was drawn back to the South West to work at a design studio in Bristol. Having studied for many years in the art of drawing and letter design, he found that the printed design industry was very computer based, and opted out after six months.

In his spare time, he painted pictures of wildlife, and took his first painting to a gallery in Totnes, who promptly ordered some more. He then got commissions from The National Trust to paint several of their properties and then some middle eastern commissions for a client in Oman.
Neil has sold originals and prints across the world, and regularly exhibits his work, usually at Easter, Summer and Autumn exhibitions.
His inspiration usually comes from the landscape and seascapes of South Devon, along with its’ abundance of flora and fauna.

Neil is a keen fisherman and has spends many hours afloat on his boat which he shares with wife, Tracey and son Lucas.
He also runs a successful framing business from his studio in Dartmouth, and is currently writing a website to promote an online portfolio of work.
